In one of his last essays Brian Doyle wrote, “I sing a song of things that make us smile and bow, that just for an instant let us see sometimes the web and and weave of the incomprehensible inexhaustible inexplicable Yes.” Sometimes through luck or grace, the things that give us light and hope just fall into our lives; but there are also ways we can willfully turn ourselves toward that Yes, even when we feel most tired or daunted.
