As we continue to re-gather for a new congregational year, I thought it was time in this coming election season to look at the role of strength in our lives.  In our national life, there is a powerful seduction to see the positive virtue of strength as a form of dominance, of control, as power over others.  This is far from the way we UU’s see inner resilience, endurance, the ability to keep going even as we seek to assist others.  It is almost as if we need a radical redefinition of the concept itself–and we do!
